Residence

The WA College of Agriculture - Morawa offers a specialist Year 10,11 and 12 residential facility. Students spend their day studying at the College classroom, trades and farm complex and reside at the hostel, although we often have several day students from the Morawa community.

A modern well designed residence with individual rooms is available for students at the College. Each room is lockable providing privacy and security. All dorms contain a student common room, with TV, lounge and a small kitchenette. They are also fitted with a small laundry for personal use. A full laundry service is provided, including mending.

Set in pleasant grounds close to the farm and within easy walking distance from shops and facilities, the hostel is fully air conditioned and a friendly home away from home, and has a capacity of 72 student placements.

The hostel has a modern fully equipped kitchen and dining room where students are provided with full board. Two cooks prepare three meals per day for students. Breakfast alternates between a continental breakfast and a cooked selection. Students are bussed to the hostel for lunch, which consists of hot food, and cold meat and salad. A hot meal is served for dinner followed by dessert.

The College has a full set of camping and scuba diving equipment. During their stay students are able to participate in the PADI open water diving certificate which, when successfully completed, will enable them to dive anywhere in the world.

Students boarding at the hostel are invited to bring their own horses and motorbikes for weekend entertainment. The College has a well appointed stable including a round yard, and a motocross track. Regular socials and the annual Combined College / Morawa District High School Ball allow our students to socialise and enjoy the company of others outside of the College.

There is also Spring and Autumn sporting carnivals held between the other Agricultural Colleges. Approximately every four to five weeks, there is a closed weekend and students are able to return home for the weekend or stay with friends or local families. A small canteen is opened each afternoon for drinks and snacks. However, if students wish, they also have daily access to the town shops. All town facilities are within easy walking distance. Student Councillors are elected to assist in the running of the hostel and help with recreation activities. Dedicated hostel staff frequently organise weekend and afternoon activities including scuba diving, AFL football matches, concerts, picnics, beach outings and pastoral care camps. Study is supervised five nights per week for students to complete set homework and assignments. The hostel has 20 computers and students have access to the internet and email. Students are encouraged to bring their own laptops.

Recreational facilities at the hostel include volleyball, basketball, tennis, table tennis, air hockey table, trampolines and a fully equipped gymnasium. All students have access to Foxtel and all dorm common rooms are fitted with flat screen T.V's. There are also outdoor areas with fire-pits for socialising during the winter months.

Students also have the option of playing winter sport for the local town, this includes Football, Hockey and Netball. Transport is provided to all students wishing to participate in winter sport. Any students wanting to go along and support the local sports clubs can also travel on the College bus on sports days.
